Yes! Nursery services are available during our 10:30 AM Sunday worship service as well as our 9:30 AM worship service during the summer.  Child care is also available during our Sunday Adult Education programs (9:00 AM – 10:30 AM).

Can I receive Holy Communion if I'm a visitor?

All visitors who are baptized and receive this sacrament in their own congregation are welcome to receive communion with us.  We trust Christ’s living presence with us as he promised. Along with wine at communion, grape juice is offered in the center ring of the tray.   Non-communing adults and children may still come to the altar and fold their hands to receive a blessing. Children will be given a grape as a sign of God’s blessing and inclusion.

Is gluten-free bread offered at communion?

Yes, gluten-free bread is available.  Please let the pastor know of your preference when you are served.

When is Sunday School offered?

Sunday School is offered for ages 3 through adult between our Sunday services (9:15-10:15 AM) during the school year.  We offer an extensive Christian Education program.

Do you offer adult education?

Adult Education is offered between our Sunday services (9:15-10:15 AM) during the school year, and also on Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM.  We also have a monthly book discussion group and a GIFT (Growing In Faith Together) group.  As you can see, we offer a variety of adult Christian Education programs.

What is the confirmation program?

Confirmation is a two year program for junior high/7th & 8th graders, including a week long (optional) confirmation camp each summer.  The class gathers weekly during the school year, on Wednesday nights, and participates in service projects, as well. Confirmation Class is just one of our many Christian Education programs.

What is Mission Support?

Mission Support is the portion of offerings to St. Barnabas that are then shared with the Northern Illinois Synod and the larger churchwide organization.  This support provides 80% of the resources needed by the ELCA to begin new ministries and accompany existing congregations as growing centers for evangelical mission.  St. Barnabas is working towards a goal of sharing 10% of our offerings to the synod and ELCA in support of its missions.
